Bio
Renee Sbrocco, RNIV, OCN, who joined CalvertHealth in 1995, has spent most of her career taking care of cancer patients, and is herself a breast cancer survivor. Thompson, who has been practicing since 2008, started her career at an oncology unit in an area hospital before joining Calvert Hospice and later Calvert Hematology Oncology.
Thompson believes in taking a holistic approach to patient care. “Our goal is to make sure all of the patient’s needs are met because that is what provides a positive experience and outcome.”
Sbrocco emphasized the importance of the oncology navigator. As part of the multidisciplinary team, they function as advocate, interpreter, educator, facilitator and counselor for oncology patients and families at CalvertHealth. They also help to bridge communication between the various members of the cancer team to ensure coordination and timeliness of cancer care.

Bio
Megan Hance, RN has joined the team at the Sheldon E. Goldberg Center for Breast Care at CalvertHealth as a breast health nurse navigator. She brings broad experience and expertise to the program including six years as an oncology nurse with CalvertHealth Hematology & Oncology.
“Working with the providers in the CalvertHealth Hematology & Oncology office has given me insight as to how treatment plans are developed and importance of involving patients in their care plans,” she said. “I feel this will be especially beneficial in my new role as breast care navigator.”
Born and raised in Calvert, Hance said it is important to her to be able to serve her community. “I chose oncology because you can make a lasting impact on a patient and their family.”
Her office is located at Calvert Medical Imaging Center, next to the dedicated women’s suite. When there is an abnormal finding, Hance is readily available to provide reassurance and support. She can help lessen the anxiety by explaining results, answering questions and coordinating next steps.
Hance graduated from the College of Southern Maryland with an associate degree in nursing in 2010 and worked on a post-operative orthopedic unit for two years before coming to CalvertHealth. She is certified as a biotherapy/ chemotherapy nurse. Her philosophy of care is all about patient empowerment. “I want our patients to feel at ease and comfortable speaking with me,” she said. “It’s important for them to know I am here for them. I want them to feel informed about their care decisions and to know they are part of the team.”

Bio
Tracy works closely with patients and family members to help ease any worries or concerns about treatment costs and insurance processing. For patients who are under-insured or have no oncology-related coverage, Tracy can help identify assistance programs or connect patients with other community resources to help reduce their out-of pocket responsibility.
Tracy has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare finance and has worked exclusively in hematology and oncology since 2015. Tracy understands the financial distress some patients feel when they are receiving treatment and is looking forward to alleviating that burden as much as possible. “I want our patients to feel comfortable knowing that I am here to help them with their financial needs. I hope they feel confident and less stressed knowing that I will do everything I can to help them,” said Tracy.
In her free time, Tracy enjoys spending time with her husband of 22 years and her two college-aged sons.
